Accessibility statement

Serenity Peak Psychiatric & Integrative Wellness is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance status

This website has been built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. WCAG 2.1 defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

What we have done

• All text meets or exceeds the 4.5:1 contrast minimum against its background; large text and interface borders meet 3:1.
• Color is never the only way information is conveyed. The current page in the navigation is marked with aria-current and a heavier weight, not color alone.
• Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a clearly visible focus indicator.
• The mobile menu traps focus while open, closes with the Escape key, and returns focus to the button that opened it.
• A “Skip to main content” link is the first item in the tab order on every page.
• Tap targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
• Images that convey meaning have descriptive alternative text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
• Form fields have persistent visible labels, errors are announced, and error messages describe how to fix the problem rather than only marking the field red.
• Animation is disabled entirely for visitors whose system requests reduced motion, and the palette adapts for visitors who request higher contrast.
• Page structure uses real landmarks and a single logical heading order, so screen reader users can navigate by heading or region.
• The site is fully usable at 200% zoom and reflows to a single column without horizontal scrolling.

Known limitations

The new patient intake form is provided by Valant, the practice’s electronic health record vendor, and is hosted on Valant’s own website. We link out to it rather than embedding it, so that form is governed by Valant’s accessibility, not ours, and we cannot make claims about it. The link is marked as opening in a new tab. If that form is difficult for you to use for any reason, call the office at (973) 755-2887 and we will take your information over the phone instead — that path is always available and is not a lesser one.
